Mission and History
In 1978, a group of Saint Francis Hospital emergency department physicians founded MedCenter at 29th Street and Garnett Road. One of the few urgent care centers in the region, the doctors set out to offer quality care for acute healthcare needs in a convenient, efficient, affordable, and friendly environment.
The facility has been expanded four times, and in the fall of 2003, a second MedCenter facility opened its doors at East 81st Street South and Highway 169. A third facility was opened at Utica and 17th in January of 2007.
More than a half-million residents from the greater Tulsa area have been treated at MedCenter, responding to the convenience of timely care when they are acutely ill or injured.
Another area of care that MedCenter has focused on since the early days of the practice is occupational medicine. Our WorkerHealthCare program provides work-related services for our business partners, including evaluations, such as audiometric and pulmonary function testing, preplacement physical examinations, alcohol and drug screening, on-site workplace assessment consultations, diagnosis and treatment of work-related illness and injury, and more.
From opening day and every day since, the mission that drives the physicians and associated professionals at MedCenter is a commitment to providing exceptional, immediate medical care for injuries and illness seven days a week, in a convenient and compassionate setting.
